Autumn Leaves is one of the most popular jazz standards of all time. It’s also a must-know tune for any beginner musician.
Blue Bossa is a popular instrumental jazz standard by Kenny Dorham – a criminally underrated American trumpeter, singer, and composer.
All the Things You Are is a popular jazz standard by Jerome Kern – a prolific American musical theater, film, and popular music composer with over 700 songs to his name. Oscar Hammerstein II penned the song’s lyrics for the 1939 Broadway play Very Warm for May.
Fly Me to the Moon was originally written under the title In Other Words in 1954 by Bart Howard – a jazz and popular music composer who created the song after a music publisher requested he writes something simple for cabaret singers. The result was Fly Me to the Moon, a cabaret ballad in 3/4.
Body & Soul is one of the most-recorded jazz standards in the Great American Songbook.
Once you've thoroughly mastered an arrangement, it's time to put your own spin on it! The great thing about jazz standards is that they serve as a common template for musicians to show off their unique voices.
We'd love to hear what you come up with! Post your covers of our arrangements or unique takes on the songs to Instagram, and be sure to tag us as well as the artist involved!
